Terms of Service

1. About 4LEFT

4LEFT provides tools for golfers to record rounds, maintain playing history, calculate golf statistics, analyse performance and calculate a 4LEFT Handicap.

Some features may use automated or artificial-intelligence systems to process scorecard photographs or provide analysis of your golf data.

4LEFT is intended for personal and recreational golf use.

2. 4LEFT Handicap

A 4LEFT Handicap is calculated using methodology based on the World Handicap System.

A 4LEFT Handicap is not an official WHS Handicap Index and is not issued by England Golf or another authorised national golf association.

You should not represent a 4LEFT Handicap as an official WHS Handicap Index where an official handicap is required.

Course, tee, rating and scoring information used by 4LEFT may come from several sources and may occasionally be incomplete or incorrect.

You remain responsible for confirming any information required for an official competition or handicap submission.

3. Your account

You are responsible for:

• providing accurate account information;
• keeping access to your account secure;
• ensuring activity carried out through your account is authorised;
• telling us if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must not:

• attempt to access another user's account;
• interfere with or circumvent 4LEFT security;
• misuse automated interfaces or APIs;
• use 4LEFT in a way that is unlawful or materially disrupts the service.

We may suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary for security, misuse, fraud or serious breach of these Terms.

4. Golf data

You may enter or submit information including:

• golf scores;
• courses and tees played;
• putts;
• fairway results;
• scorecard photographs;
• course corrections;
• other golf-performance information.

You are responsible for checking information you enter or confirm.

4LEFT may calculate statistics and other derived information from your data, including:

• round totals;
• performance statistics;
• Personal SI;
• handicap calculations;
• historical comparisons;
• AI-assisted round analysis.

Derived information depends on the accuracy and completeness of the underlying data.

5. Scorecard photographs

4LEFT may allow you to photograph a scorecard so that information can be extracted automatically.

Automated extraction may misread handwriting, printed information or other details.

You must check the extracted information before confirming and saving the round.

Manual round entry remains available where supported by the product.

Do not upload photographs containing information you do not have the right to submit.

6. AI-assisted features

Some 4LEFT features use artificial intelligence, including scorecard processing and analysis of golf performance.

AI-generated information:

• may contain errors;
• may omit relevant context;
• may interpret your golf data incorrectly;
• should be treated as assistance rather than an authoritative determination.

Where the product presents extracted or generated information for confirmation, you are responsible for checking it before relying on it.

AI-generated golf analysis is provided for informational and recreational purposes.

7. Personal SI

4LEFT may calculate a Personal Stroke Index or Personal SI based on your own playing history.

Personal SI describes your personal performance pattern.

It is not the same thing as the official Stroke Index allocated to holes on a golf course scorecard and should not be represented as such.

8. Historic 4LEFT data

4LEFT contains historic records from the earlier 4LEFT service.

Where eligible historic information can be matched to a current account using a single unambiguous verified-email match, 4LEFT may associate that historic information with the current account.

We do not intentionally link historic profiles where the match is uncertain.

Historic records may contain incomplete or outdated course or playing information.

9. Course information

4LEFT maintains a catalogue of golf-course and tee information.

Information may originate from:

• golf clubs and published scorecards;
• third-party golf-data providers;
• historic 4LEFT records;
• user submissions and corrections;
• scorecard photographs.

Although we take reasonable steps to improve accuracy, we do not guarantee that every course, tee, yardage, par, Stroke Index, Course Rating or Slope Rating is complete or current.

If you find incorrect information, you can report it through 4LEFT or contact support@4left.com.

10. Availability

We aim to keep 4LEFT available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

Features may change as the service develops.

We may:

• add or remove features;
• correct errors;
• perform maintenance;
• change third-party providers;
• temporarily restrict functionality for security or operational reasons.

We will take reasonable care not to make changes that unfairly remove rights you have already paid for.

11. Charges and paid services

A new 4LEFT account includes its first 3 scorecards free. No subscription or payment is required to create an account or add those first 3 scorecards.

After the free allowance, continuing to add scorecards requires a 4LEFT Annual subscription at £48 per year, billed annually in pounds sterling. We do not offer a monthly billing option; the monthly figure shown is only the equivalent cost. Your existing rounds, handicap and analysis remain available without a subscription.

A subscription renews each year until cancelled. Payment is taken by Stripe, our payment provider; 4LEFT does not receive or store your full card details. You can cancel or update your payment details from the Billing page. If you cancel, your access continues until the end of the annual period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again.

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may retry it. Access may continue for a short period while payment is retried and ends if the subscription is cancelled or remains unpaid.

12. Intellectual property

The 4LEFT software, branding, design, written content and other materials created by 4LEFT are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of those materials to you.

You may use the service for its intended personal and recreational purposes.

You must not copy, reproduce, sell, reverse engineer or commercially exploit substantial parts of the service except where the law permits it.

13. Content you submit

You retain ownership of information and content you submit to 4LEFT.

You give us permission to process, store and display that content as reasonably necessary to provide and operate the service.

Where course information or corrections are contributed to the shared course catalogue, we may retain and use that factual course information after your account is deleted, provided personal association with you is removed where appropriate.

14. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your 4LEFT account.

Instructions are available on the Delete your account page.

Account deletion may permanently remove your profile, playing history, handicap history, statistics and personalised analysis.

Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary for:

• legal obligations;
• security;
• fraud prevention;
• dispute resolution;
• financial record keeping;
• anonymised or shared course information.

15. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.

16. Third-party services

4LEFT relies on third-party technology and data providers.

These may include hosting, database, authentication, AI-processing and golf-course-data providers.

Third-party services may occasionally be unavailable or change their functionality.

Where 4LEFT links to an external website or service, that provider's own terms and privacy policy apply.

17. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

4LEFT is provided for personal and recreational golf use.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by:

• inaccurate information entered or confirmed by a user;
• reliance on AI-generated analysis;
• errors in third-party golf-course information;
• temporary service interruptions;
• circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

18. Ending use of 4LEFT

You may stop using 4LEFT at any time.

You may request account deletion through the process described on the Delete your account page.

We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of:

• security concerns;
• fraud;
• unlawful use;
• serious misuse;
• material breach of these Terms.

Where reasonable, we will give notice before termination.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms where:

• the service changes;
• the law changes;
• third-party services change;
• clarification is required.

The current version and its effective date will be published on 4LEFT.

If a material change significantly affects existing users, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to their attention.

20. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, you may also have rights to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.

Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory rights you have under consumer law.
